Mediterranean-inspired products
The use of global flavors in traditional dairy products continues
to gain traction. Esti Foods, Englewood, NJ, a company that has
built its brand by focusing on Mediterranean products, including
hummus, tzatziki, Greek yogurt, yogurt-based dips and more, is
growing its " Circle of Global Flavors " offerings with two cultured
dairy-based dips. Chimichurri is a " flavor of Argentina, " while Elotes
Street Corn is a " flavor of Mexico. "
Powered with probiotics
Good Culture, Irvine, Calif., the B-corp certified, clean label
cultured foods brand known for helping revolutionize cottage
cheese for the modern age, launched Organic Sour Cream. Like
Good Culture's other products, the new sour cream contains
powerful probiotics. This launch embodies the company's
dedication to environmental responsibility, as it is part of the 1%
For The Planet partnership, donating 1% of net sales from select
products to support responsible farming practices, including a
focus on regenerative agriculture and planned grazing.
Citrus-forward dips
Citrus flavors are trending, which is somewhat of an unusual
combination in dairy, because sour does not always go well
with creamy. In fact, for some, there's that vision of the acidic
fruit curdling the milk. But they do go together, and surprisingly,
deliciously well. Superior Foods Co., Grand Rapids, Mich., a copacker
of innovative dairy dips and spreads, has a new Lemon
Blueberry Bliss dairy dip. On the savory side, there's a new
Pepperoni Pizza flavored dip.
Twist on traditional
Lakeview Farms LLC, Delphos, Ohio, grew its Fresh Cravings Dip
& Spread line with layers of flavors. The new offerings provide a
twist to traditional recipes, thanks to unique flavor experiences
that feature a variety of vibrant vegetables and spices. New
offerings include Bleu Cheese & Bacon, Hot Honey, Miso Ranch,
and Pineapple Jalapeno. They join Cilantro Jalapeno, Everything
Bagel and Poblano Street Corn. The dips are loaded with dairy
ingredients, including sour cream, cream cheese and/or cultured
buttermilk. They come in 10- to 12-oz containers and may be
served chilled or warmed.
Dairy-free dips
The Gordo's brand is expanding into the non-cheese premium dip
category. Its three newest dips use a sour cream and cream cheese
base, and come in 12 oz tubs. The flavors are Creamy Jalapeno,
Smokey Tomato (and chiles) and Zesty Ranch.
