In an interview with Forbes,
Anthea Kelsick, co-chief
executive officer of B Lab US
& Canada, said following the
2008 financial crisis, " B Corps
were 64% more likely than other
businesses of a similar size to
make it through the downturn. "
As the pandemic impacts
various industries across the
economy, speeding innovation
and creating winners and losers
in its wake, those remaining and
those yet to come should stop
and evaluate their social license
to operate by asking two simple
questions: What value is my
business or organization providing
to society? How am I showing that
value to consumers?
Consumers are asking
these very questions. When
they see Dairy Farmers of
America distributing milk to
hungry Americans or Tillamook
committing to 100% recyclable,
reusable, or compostable
packaging by 2030, they take
notice. They seek out products
made by companies that share
their values. And if they also enjoy
what they make, they are likely to
become regular customers.
Consumer trust will, in part,
determine the evolution of the
dairy industry. Trust is a new
form currency-and I'm proud
to see the dairy industry working
hard to earn it.
The International Dairy Foods

nation's dairy manufacturing
and marketing industry,
which supports more than 3
million jobs.
