Limited-time raspberry chocolate flavor
General Mills Inc., Minneapolis, continues to get creative with its Oui
by Yoplait French Style Yogurt that comes in 5-oz glass jars. The brand
collaborated with New York Times bestselling author Eve Rodsky,
who wrote " Find Your Unicorn Space, " to offer Oui in a limited-edition
raspberry chocolate variety. This flavor is all about enabling women to
carve out some personal time during their hectic day, even if it's just to
enjoy a cup of Oui.
Yogurt dressings and dips
Private-label retailer Aldi Inc., Batavia, Ill., wants consumers to appreciate
how plants, e.g., salad, taste better with dairy. The company now offers
Little Salad Bar Yogurt Dressing & Dip in cilantro avocado and ranch
varieties. Yogurt and real buttermilk are the dominant ingredients. The
perishable product comes in 12-oz plastic bottles and can be found next
to lettuce.
Italian milk-based yogurt
Italy-based White & Seeds wants to grow its Yogurt + Chia line of whole
milk yogurt made with 100% Italian milk beyond its borders. The 180gram
cups are 15% organic fruit compote and 14% hydrated chia seeds, a
natural source of omega-3 fatty acids, fiber and protein. Sweetened with
sugar, one cup contains 200 calories, 5.7 grams of fat, 18 grams of sugar,
6.5 grams of protein and 5.4 grams of fiber. Yogurt + Chia comes in three
varieties: mixed berries (blueberry, raspberry, strawberry and red currants),
peach and strawberry currant. The peach offering is made with " La Bella di
Borgo d'Ale " peaches, an ancient white pulp species grown exclusively in
the Piedmontese territory of Borgo d'Ale.
New flavors of skyr
Icelandic Provisions, New York City, is expanding its single-serve skyr line
with four new varieties. In the Extra Creamy (whole milk) category, there's
honey apricot and passion fruit mango. In the traditional low-fat milk line,
there's a berry medley containing a blend of raspberries, strawberries
and cranberries with a hint of blueberry; and pineapple. The company
uses authentic heirloom cultures that were used a century ago to convert
milk into skyr to fuel the Vikings. The company also released a new 30 oz
size of its best-selling skyr products - whole milk and low-fat plain - to
encourage home cooks to boost the protein content of recipes.
A2A2 Mediterranean yogurt
Penn Dairy, Winfield, Pa., is rolling out Orontes A2A2 Mediterranean
Yogurt. The cup-set yogurt comes in plain and vanilla varieties and is
made from A2A2 whole milk produced by local cows that are fed grass
210 days of the year. Probiotics and prebiotic fiber (chicory root inulin)
are added to boost the yogurt's healthful halo. Lactase enzyme is added
to eliminate lactose for those with lactose sensitivities or intolerances.
