Laura Chenel Everything Bagel
Fresh Goat Cheese wins 2022
sofi New Product Award
Laura Chenel's Everything Bagel Fresh Goat
Cheese, a pairing of America's original goat cheese
with the ever-popular blend of sesame seeds,
garlic, poppy seeds and onion, has won the new
product award in the Cheese - Non-Cow Milk,
Mixed Milk category as part of the Specialty Food
Association's (SFA) 2022 sofi Awards, a top honor
in the $170.4 billion
specialty food industry.
The goat cheese was
one of 102 winners
selected by a panel of
specialty food experts
from nearly 2,000
entries across 53
product categories.
" We at Laura Chenel
are very proud that Everything Bagel Fresh Goat
Cheese has been honored with the New Product
sofi Award, " said Laure Chatard, chief executive
officer. " To be distinguished by the specialty food
industry for our newest flavor further validates our
commitment to innovation, top quality products
and creative flavors. We look forward to celebrating
this achievement with the other amazing sofi
Award winners, our colleagues and customers at
the Summer Fancy Food Show. "
" The sofi Awards have been recognizing the
best of the best in the specialty food industry
for 50 years, " said Laura Lozada, vice president,
membership for the SFA. " We are thrilled to honor
the innovation and creativity of our members, who
are the foundation of the industry. "
Laura Chenel, Sonoma, Calif., made America's first
artisan goat cheese 40 years ago and continues to
lead the industry with its products.
" Laura Chenel's founding principles of care,
quality and community guide the company in
making more than goat cheese, " said Durae Hardy,
brand manager. " Everything Bagel combines
the best of our iconic original goat cheese with
inventive flavors and taste experiences consumers
crave. Every purchase also supports small family
farms and our creamery's sustainable practices
including solar energy and on-site water recycling
programs. "
Saputo's Montchevre medals
at world championship
Saputo's goat cheese brand Montchevre took
home awards for two new-to-market products at
this year's World Championship Cheese Contest.
Blueberry Lemon fresh goat cheese earned
silver in the Soft Goat's Milk Cheeses, Flavored
With Sweet Condiments category, scoring 99.5
points out of 100. And Cranberry Port Topped
goat cheese was awarded bronze in the Soft
Goat's Milk Cheeses, Flavored category, scoring
98.25 points out of 100.
" Blueberry Lemon flavor puts a tangy twist
on the already top-selling Montchevre Blueberry
Vanilla goat cheese log fans have enjoyed for
years, " according to Saputo. " Hand-rolled in
blueberries and infused with lemon zest, this
fresh goat cheese is perfect for snacking and a
great ingredient for baking, too. "
The company described its other award-winner,
Cranberry Port Topped, as a cheese " with a
combination of sweet, port-spiked cranberries,
orange, ginger and lemon. The tartness of the
cranberry and tanginess of the goat cheese pairs
well with a dry rosé or light, citrusy white wine. "
Hosted by the Wisconsin Cheese Makers
Association, the World Championship Cheese
Contest is the world's premier technical cheese,
butter and yogurt competition. This year's
competition received 2,978 entries from 29
nations. Out of all the nations represented,
cheeses originating from the United States were
most widely recognized, leading the pack with an
impressive 94 Best-In-Class finishes.
