COMMENTARY
For the
better
We've ushered in another year and for many it's a time for
resolutions. Though by this point, many of those resolutions
- set with the best of intentions - have fallen by the wayside.
I decided to make a realistic resolution for 2024: get the
dishes in my sink washed every night before I go to bed. (But
seriously, where do all those bowls come from?!)
The truth is my resolution was completely self-serving,
similar to resolutions to hit the gym or read more. And while
those goals are all well and good, I realized this time of year
is also an opportunity to consider what I might be able to do
for those around me and in my community in the year ahead.
If I needed inspiration to set that sort of intention for
the year, reading our feature on Schreiber Foods surely did
the trick.
Dairy Processing partnered with the International Dairy
Foods Association (IDFA) to present the inaugural IDFA
Workplace of the Year award to Schreiber Foods for the
commitment the company has made to create a positive,
inclusive and respectful environment for its employees.
I had the priviledge of presenting the award in January, at
Dairy Forum in Phoenix, to the team from Schreiber. To hear
the sincere words spoken about the
pride the people there take in what
they do left me truly inspired to think
beyond myself, and consider what I
can do to empower those around me.
Even though New Year's Day is in
the rearview mirror, there is never a
bad time to make the commitment to
do better by others in whatever ways
you can. Lifting up those around you
will offer a reward that is virtually
immeasurable in its impact.
But, I will try to keep on top of those pesky dishes, too.
